The bananas (Musa), outdated figs of paradise, are a genus of plants in the family of the banana plants (Musaceae) within the monocotyledonous plants (monocotyledons). The approximately 70 species originate - except for one species in Tanzania - all from tropical to subtropical Asia and the western Pacific region.[1]
